Birmingham venue The Flapper in Cambrian Wharf is under threat of redevelopment.
New plans for the area have proposed that the venue be demolished to make way for a canal-side apartment complex consisting of 80 flats. That sounds pretty grim, but venue management have been quick to reassure punters that nothing is set in stone just yet.
In a statement posted on their Facebook page, The Flapper’s management said, “We understand word is spreading fast, but we don’t actually know all the details yet. We will do in the next couple of weeks and we will release a full and official statement. Property developers own the venue, it has not been sold out by us.”
“Let us reinforce that it IS business as usual- NO cancelled gigs, NO immediate closure. The last thing the venue needs is word spreading that The Flapper is 100% closing! That will indeed devastate the venue,” they continued.
