Los Campesinos! may be known best for loud and heavy-hitting indie bangers, but at the core of it all is some pretty stunning heartfelt tales – as shown with latest number ‘The Fall Of Home’.
Stripped-back and raw, the track examines the pressures, fears and realities that come with leaving hometowns, looking at not only the effect it has on the person leaving, but on the town itself.
Speaking about the track, Gareth from the band said that ‘The Fall Of Home’ is “an elegy to the home towns left behind. It’s about the villages too stifling to ever allow you or itself to flourish. About those who left to protect their mental health or to be the best version of themselves. To those who moved to the city and return “home” for Christmas and funerals, feeling like a tourist. For the lonely people in rented house shares with no idea what they’re doing. And it’s for those who didn’t want to or couldn’t leave, and are still hanging in there.”
‘The Fall Of Home’ is taken from Los Campesinos!’ incoming sixth studio album ‘Sick Scenes’, set for release on February 24th and already packing standout numbers such as ‘I Broke Up In Amarante’ and ‘5 Flucloxacillin’. Expect the usual euphoric and celebratory scenes when the band head out on a UK headline run to mark the release, kicking off on April 27th and running through 7 dates before finishing up in Birmingham on May 7th.
