The National have scored their first Number 1 on the UK Albums Chart, beating Nothing But Thieves into second place.
The band’s new album ‘Sleep Well Beast’ has gone straight in at the top spot, beating their previous best – a Number 3 for 2013’s ‘Trouble Will Find Me’.
Nothing But Thieves enter the chart at Number 2 with their new album ‘Broken Machine’, while Alvvays manage to make the Top 40, debuting at Number 28 with ‘Antisocialites’.
